Vegetable Brush - Iris Hantverk

A sturdy brush with a good shape for gripping. It has stiff but gentle bristles, ideal for scrubbing dirt from root vegetables. We use it most to clean beets, carrots, winter squash, and potatoes prior to roasting. Beautiful enough to keep right next to your sink.

Materials:  Strong and water resistant Union bristles (a mix of tampico and bassine) with a birch handle

Dimensions:  5" x 1.75"

Care: Wash by hand with mild dish soap and warm water. Hang the brush or stand it on the bristles to dry. Oil the handle from time to time to keep the wood from drying out. If you care for your brushes well, they will age beautifully.

Maker:  At Iris Hantverk, people with visual impairments have been making brushes using the time-honored techniques of traditional Swedish craftsmanship for more than a hundred years. We still draw every brush by hand and use natural materials almost exclusively. Backs and handles are made of birch, oak, or beech. The bristles are made of various materials such as horsehair, goat hair, Tampico fiber (from plants unique to the semi-desert areas of northern Mexico), and Piassava fiber, depending on their use.
